GLOVES AND MITTENS

WHICH TYPE OF GLOVES OR MITTENS IS RIGHT FOR ME?

To make sure that no heat is lost and the glove/glove does not pinch your hand, there should be a space of about half a finger length between your longest finger and the glove/glove. When stretching the fingers, your fingertips should just not touch the lining seam of the top of the glove/mitten. If they do, they are too small. By wearing gloves or mittens which are too small, there is not enough space for the air to have an insulating effect. This will cause your fingers to cool down faster and your hands to get cold. So pay attention to this!

It is wise to choose a glove with a fit that is slightly over the wrist. This ensures that your hand is completely enclosed by the glove/glove and therefore stays nice and warm.

GLOVES OR MITTENS?

It can be difficult to decide between gloves or mittens. Our experts prefer mittens (especially for young children). They are much easier to put on, especially when children have to do this themselves. In addition, mittens keep the heat in better, because not every finger has to be insulated separately. We also recommend mittens for adults who easily get cold hands. Gloves, on the other hand, are more comfortable to wear because you can use all your fingers loosely and therefore have more freedom of movement. The choice is very personal. It's a good idea to try out several gloves and mittens in the shop to find out what you like best.

WHAT SIZE GLOVES DO I NEED?

Fitting gloves and mittens may not sound complicated, but just like with shoes, it's important to make sure you buy the right size and model. Because nobody is happy with gloves that are too small or mittens that are too big and you lose them halfway down the slopes... That's why we asked our experts to explain what to consider when you're looking for new gloves/mittens. Would you like to know what advice the experts at Duijvestein give on this subject? INNER GLOVES

Inner gloves, or undergloves, are gloves that you can wear underneath your glove/glove. It is recommended to invest in a pair of fine inner gloves for days when it is extremely cold and you need double protection. Inner gloves also come in handy when you regularly take off your normal gloves/mittens on the slopes, for example if you want to take a picture or have to get something out of your bag. Because the inner gloves are very thin, you can do everything with them and do not have to expose your hands to the cold. This prevents your hands from cooling down too much!

ADVICE FOR KIDS

When trying on gloves/mittens with a child, there are a few extra things to keep in mind. For example, it is a good idea for the child to put the gloves/mittens on under the cuffs of the jacket, if possible. This makes it more difficult for the child to remove the glove/mitten. This also prevents too much space being created between the jacket and the glove/glove, so that no heat is lost. For children, it is often advisable to choose mittens instead of gloves, because they can put them on themselves more easily and they are warmer.
